Oisin Murphy’s Goodwood awesome foursome inches him closer to third Champion Jockey title
The heir apparent to Frankie Dettori, struck a sizzling four-timer at Goodwood on Tuesday to move closer to the Flat Jockey Championship.
Oisin Murphy was in one of those moods on Tuesday, with William Buick getting a little too close for comfort.
Top horseman Murphy moved a clear 17 winners ahead of his nearest challenger Buick, with the Irishman on 126 victories for the season and Buick on 109.
Piffle (13-2) opened Murphy's account when following up her Windsor success with a neck verdict over Breezy Storm in the South Downs Water EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes.
Outside World (100-30), trained by Mark Johnston, gave Murphy a double when making all the running in the Farmer Butcher Chef Fillies' Nursery Handicap.
Johnston provided Murphy with his treble on Themaxwecan (7-4 favourite) in the Royal Sussex Regiment Handicap.
Murphy brought up his four-timer with a seven and a half length triumph, on 2-11 favourite King Vega in the Every Race Live On Racing TV Novice Stakes.
He rides at Carlisle on Wednesday where Qatar Racing's Battle Of The Nile looks well placed in the 2.40 to extend the lead further.
