18:15 (Newbury) Lenny's Spirit

Alazwar wasn't beaten far in a 0-82 handicap last week and he warrants plenty of respect in this lesser event, while Mrs Meader and At Liberty also hold solid claims.

The vote, however, goes to Lenny's Spirit, who is just 3lb higher than when winning over course and distance two starts ago.

He wasn't far behind a subsequent dual winner at Pontefract when last seen and another bold bid beckons under Sophie Smith, who knows him well having been on board the last twice.

19:15 (Newbury) Be Prepared

Be Prepared arrives in great form, backing up a narrow Brighton defeat with a comfortable success at Epsom, and a further 4lb rise in the ratings might not be enough to anchor him.

Given he was once rated 20lb higher than his current mark, he still looks very dangerous now that he has got his form back.
Zoukster is less exposed and merits respect, although the handicapper may be catching up with him. Wizarding may get involved if first-time cheekpieces work some magic.

19:45 (Newbury) Tin Fandango

A course and distance winner last October when holding off the reopposing Russian Rumour (second), Tin Fandango has been running into form of late and his most recent effort at Chepstow, when narrowly denied, was very encouraging.

Tarbat Ness had been running consistently well before a disappointing effort at Wetherby and he must be one of the chief threats, as well as Cinnodin, who could easily improve for the rise in distance.

20:45 (Newbury) Typical Woman

This can go the way of Typical Woman, who deservedly got back to winning ways when scoring comfortably over an extended 1m3f at Haydock last time out.

The four-year-old ran well over course and distance in May as well and she should have too much for the recent Epsom winner Daphne May. Alchemystique and Silverscape are also entitled to be thereabouts.

Newbury selections in full:

NEWBURY: 6.15 Lenny's Spirit, 6.45 Hot Fashion, 7.15 Be Prepared, 7.45 Tin Fandango, 8.15 Expert Witness, 8.45 Typical Woman.
