Ludlow each-way racing tip: Shallow River ready to end dry run

Ludlow Racecourse

Tuesday brings us a competitive National Hunt card at Ludlow, where the pundits at Tipstrr have leaned heavily towards Shallow River to fulfil some of his earlier promise.

17:55 Ludlow: White Hall Flagstones Handicap Hurdle (3 miles)

While Caroles Pass and Kincardine are squabbling for the favourite tag, there are plenty of other contenders in with a decent shout in this competitive 12-runner handicap.

Standing out from the crowd is Fergal O'Brien's seven-year-old gelding, Shallow River, who is looking to rekindle the form he showed at the beginning of 2022, when he followed up a narrow bumper win at Wincanton with a far more impressive win over hurdles at Huntingdon.

Back at Wincanton in December, a runner-up spot behind the progressive Filey Bay (who has since been placed twice in high-graded handicaps) promised another successful campaign.

Two subsequent outings burst that optimistic bubble, but his quality remains, and having dropped a couple of points in the ratings and with the reliable Paddy Brennan again at the reins, he could well rekindle former glories in this company.

Suggested bet: Shallow River each-way in the 19:00 at Ludlow
