John Sadler secures first Dirt Mile victory with Full Serano
Full Serano ran a perfect race to hand trainer John Sadler a first success in the Big Fans Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.
The Argentinean-bred Full Serano was always up with the hot early pace set by T O Saint Denis.
The mount of Joel Rosario got the perfect tow into the stretch from that rival, before showing the rest of the field a clean pair of heels and dancing clear, with the chasing pack unable to catch up with a quality performance from Sadler's charge.
Brittany Russell’s Post Time came from a position towards the back to run on for second with Chad Brown’s hat-trick seeker Domestic Product in third.
Sadler said: “We were surprised to see the Japanese show so much speed, but we know this is a fast horse and was really good on this track last summer and trained up really well.
“I was really happy with the way he came into it, he couldn’t have done any better. We only have two races with him in this country so it is still a horse that is improving and when we get to know him a little better we will look forward to racing him again next year.”
