Jan Brueghel could head to Saudi Arabia next year
Jan Brueghel's globetrotting looks set to continue with the St Leger winner now expect to head for Saudi Arabia next year.
Aidan O’Brien unbeaten colt went to Australia for the Melbourne Cup but was ruled out of the Flemington race after after failing Racing Victoria vets' pre-race examination.
The Hong Kong Vase was chalked in as a possible next destination but that too has now been swerved as Jan Brueghel was unable to maintain his fitness while in Australia.
In a post on Coolmore’s X feed, the trainer said: “He had a long journey back from Australia and was restricted to only trotting while over there.
“Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to prepare him properly for Hong Kong so we will revisit his plans. We may aim for a race in Saudi early next year.”
