ITV Racing - Saturday's best free horse racing betting tips and odds

Newmarket racegoers at July Festival

ITV Racing have their cameras at three meetings on Saturday, October 5 and the Planet Sport tipsters have lined up some red-hot selections from the eight races on offer.

Newmarket's Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes (1440) takes centre stage on a busy day of action from headquarters, with two other contests from the venue also on the telly.

We also have four races from Ascot, including two Group 3s, and a quick trip up to Redcar for their big one the Listed Two-Year-Old Trophy.

We begin with a quick run through of our ITV tips, with the reasons why we've picked them further down the page.

If you fancy a punt or two, check out the Planet Sport race centre which will show you all the live odds, racecards and results.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

(Please be aware selections could become non-runners after article's latest update)

Saturday's ITV tips:

13:30 (Newmarket) Min Huna

13:50 (Ascot) Relief Rally

14:05 (Newmarket) Morte Point

14:25 (Ascot) Hamish

14:40 (Newmarket) Tamfana

15:00 (Ascot) Wiltshire

15:20 (Redcar) Uncle Don

15:35 (Ascot) Carrytheone

13:30 (Newmarket) Min Huna

The progressive William Haggas- trained Dubawi filly Min Huna found plenty for pressure making a successful handicap debut at Sandown.

Further improvement is anticipated and she may follow up in the opening British Ebf Premier Fillies' Handicap.

13:50 (Ascot) Relief Rally

Relief Rally’s claims for the yard are much more obvious in the opening BetMGM Rous Stakes.

She will be back over her optimum trip of six furlongs having just lost out over the minimum trip at Newbury last month.

14:05 (Newmarket) Morte Point

Morte Point is the choice in the Tattersalls October Auction Stakes.

A winner on debut in July, he was outpointed over six furlongs at Ripon on his latest run in August.

It was good ground that day though and on slower conditions at Newmarket, he might find the winning groove again.

14:25 (Ascot) Hamish

William Haggas could have a good afternoon at Ascot, with heavy ground certain to suit Hamish in the BetMGM Cumberland Lodge Stakes.

The popular nine-year-old is at his best when the mud is flying which limited his opportunities through the high summer and meant Haggas looked to the all-weather for his most recent start.

A mile and a half on the Kempton Polytrack appeared a bit sharp at this point in his career, but this should be more his speed.

14:40 (Newmarket) Tamfana

Tamfana can strike Group One gold in the Virgin Bet Sun Chariot Stakes.

David Menuisier’s charge was a Group Three winner as a juvenile and has been knocking on the door at the highest level this term, most notably when an unlucky fourth in the 1000 Guineas over this mile back in May.

Subsequently third in the Prix de Diane and fourth to Arc favourite Sosie when tackling 12 furlongs in the Grand Prix de Paris, Menuisier’s decision to drop right back to a mile for the Group Three Atalanta Stakes last time paid dividends as Tamfana secured a cosy confidence-boosting win.

Admittedly this is a different level of competition, but she impressed at Sandown and appears to be in the ascendancy while perhaps one or two of her main rivals here have questions to answer.

Soft ground should be no bar to success for this German-bred filly and she can cap a fine season for Menuisier.

15:00 (Ascot) Wiltshire

Wiltshire is another who should relish the testing conditions as he tackles the John Guest Racing Bengough Stakes.

Haggas takes a swift leap to Group Three company having been edged out in a Haydock handicap last time and while Wiltshire must improve to win, he is only lightly raced and has much potential.

15:20 (Redcar) Uncle Don

Uncle Don can take a starring role at Redcar in the William Hill Two Year Old Trophy.

Richard Fahey’s colt beat subsequent Group Three winner Big Mojo at Beverley back in July on what his second career start, but was then off the track until lining up in a Listed heat at the Ayr Gold Cup meeting.

Second on that occasion, staying on at the finish over five furlongs to suggest this nudge up to six can be a positive move.

15:35 (Ascot) Carrytheone

Top-weight Carrytheone has largely tackled decent ground since moving to the Michael Bell yard.

Did find form on heavy ground in Ireland and with Jamie Spencer booked for the first time may land this valuable prize in the Betmgm Challenge Cup following an eye-catching fourth at Chester.

With four course wins Fresh enjoys this venue and must be respected racing 2lb higher than when winning narrowly over six furlongs last time.
