Hexham each-way racing tip: Hallowed Ground deserves respect on chasing debut
Each-way specialist Richard Hutchinson, who runs Won Two Three Racing Tips on Tipstrr, has looked past Saturday’s big flat races to pick out some potential value over the jumps at Hexham.
20:10 Hexham: Handicap Chase (2 miles 4 furlongs)
We put up Hallowed Ground last time out at Sedgefield in March, after believing he would bounce back after a promising return to action.
He ran no sort of race, but they were quick to give him a wind operation afterwards, so that would appear to explain the below-par effort.
It looks significant and appealing that he now goes chasing, as he ran well in three-mile point-to-points and based upon the horses around him he will be a 100-120-rated chaser.
The fact he pitches up off a lowly opening rating of 69 (taking into consideration his five-pound conditional claim) makes him exceptionally well handicapped in this company.
He displayed a tendency to jump his hurdles high so he looks a natural for bigger obstacles and the P2P runs have already given him experience in this sphere.
Suggested bet: Hallowed Ground each-way in the 20:10 at Hexham
Market leaders Cudgel, Fever Roque and Shantou Moon are clearly equipped to go well, but with up to five places available with some bookmakers, there could be room in the frame for an outsider.
The 66/1 that we quickly grabbed was irresistible value in a 14-runner field, and although that price has unsurprisingly more than halved since, Hallowed Ground still looks worth a point each-way at anything above 20/1.
