Harry Cobden’s Planet Sport Bet blog: Bravemansgame has massive chance on best form at Aintree
Planet Sport ambassador Harry Cobden previews his four rides at Aintree on Thursday, April 11, day one of the Grand National meeting.
13:45 (Aintree) Ginny’s Destiny
I kick off the Grand National meeting with four rides starting with Ginny’s Destiny.
He’s been a fantastic horse this season, winning three times at Cheltenham and he only just got touched off by Grey Dawning in the Turners.
He did have a hard race there, but he’s come out of it really well and it wouldn’t surprise me if he turns the tables with Grey Dawning. I’m delighted to be back on him.
14:20 (Aintree) Kalif Du Berlais
Next up is Kalif Du Berlais. He didn’t run at Cheltenham and we have deliberately kept him fresh for Aintree.
He feels to me like he’s improved. I schooled him last week and he felt very good.
I think he’s got a huge chance. Sir Gino has looked incredible but we’re going to give it a go. We just don’t know how good our horse is yet.
14:55 (Aintree) Bravemansgame
I then partner Bravemansgame in the Bowl. On his best form he’d have a massive chance.
He’s been winless this year which is a bit of a headscratcher. But, if he puts his best foot forward, he’s got a huge chance.
Paul (Nicholls) and I have decided to put a pair of cheekpieces on him. We did the same with Clan Des Obeaux a few years ago and that did the trick.
The only thing that worries me is the rain they’ve had up there which could jeopardise his chance, but he seems very fit and well.
17:15 (Aintree) Jubilee Alpha
To finish on Thursday, I ride Jubilee Alpha in the Mares’ Bumper. She’s a mare we like a lot. I struggled to pull her up after her debut win at Wincanton, which is always a good sign.
Obviously, it’s a very competitive race but she deserves to take her chance and we’re hoping for a big run from her.
