Gowran Park afternoon racing tips: Best bets for Saturday, July 27

Gowran Park Flat Racecourss

The Galway Races are on the horizon, but before that there's a final offering of Irish action from Gowran Park on Saturday before a rare free Sunday in Ireland.

They race at Gowran from 13:42-17:35 on Saturday afternoon, with conditions forecast to be 'good' at the Co Kilkenny venue.

Enda McElhinney has race-by-race selections for the card, which includes the Listed Marble City Stakes at 15:25.

Don't forget to check out the full racecard, results and live odds in Planet Sport's racing live centre.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

(Please be aware selections could become non-runners after article's first publication)

Gowran Park selections in full:

13:42 (Gowran Park) Sigh No More

14:17 (Gowran Park) Eriskay

14:52 (Gowran Park) Inablink

15:25 (Gowran Park) Kinesiology

15:55 (Gowran Park) Touch The Sound

16:30 (Gowran Park) Next Trick

17:50 (Gowran Park) Pegula

17:35 (Gowran Park) Snellen

13:42 (Gowran Park) Sigh No More

Canto Della Terra was runner-up at Fairyhouse over 6f last month on debut and has since moved to Donnacha O'Brien, but that form has taken some knocks and she might be susceptible to the newcomers.

Sigh No More has gained experience in barrier trials at Naas and Dundalk and the Starspangledbanner filly should know the task at hand now for Joseph O'Brien. This doesn't appear the strongest maiden and she can oblige.

14:17 (Gowran Park) Eriskay

Dermot Weld's mare Eriskay has a poor strike-rate but she was a closing third at Naas (6f, good) on seasonal reappearance at the start of the month, when racing from out of the handicap, and on that evidence she is worth another try at this increased trip.

14:52 (Gowran Park) Inablink

A wide open handicap and one in which a chance is taken on Inablink in her first start for new handler Alan McIntyre. The mare showed promise in a fast-ground maiden over this course and distance in August 2022 on her second start.

She only had two runs last season, both over further on softer going, and has since left Barry Fitzgerald. A tongue-tie is fitted now and the handicapper has almost certainly offered Luke McAteer's partner something to work with from this reduced mark.

15:25 (Gowran Park) Kinesiology

The feature race of the afternoon is the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Marble City Stakes over 1m4f and Kinesiology can take out the prize for Jessica Harrington.

Her colt won a maiden at Cork (1m2f, good) in May on comeback and then finished a good second to Portland over this trip in Listed company at Leopardstown last month. A replication of that run puts him close. Bellezza and The Euphrates are clear dangers.

15:55 (Gowran Park) Touch The Sound

Plenty in this maiden line-up with experience and the likes of Iseult Of Ireland for Aidan O'Brien and Evening Blossom for Joseph O'Brien should be in the mix, though the latter has had plenty chances.

Touch The Sound is a €95,000 daughter of Churchill with winners in the family and Fozzy Stack's charge might be ready to hit the ground running on debut in this open contest.

16:30 (Gowran Park) Next Trick

Vivienda won a Fairyhouse maiden over 7f in late May and Ger Lyons' filly is respected here from 6lb higher in the handicap but preference is for Dermot Weld's filly Next Trick.

She was second-best in a C&D maiden last month and has since finished fourth in a better quality event at the Curragh on Derby Day. The Bated Breath filly has scope to manage a mark of 74 now switching her attentions to handicaps.

16:50 (Gowran Park) Pegula

Not the easiest bunch to have strong faith in. Barretstown and Molly Hall arrive on the back of winning efforts but Pegula shaped well on seasonal bow at Leopardstown (1m1f, good) earlier in the month, coming home well to take second spot.

The Cotai Glory filly is up 4lb for that but she is lightly-raced and has scope to defy a mark of 51 if building on that pleasing start to her four-year-old campaign.

17:35 (Gowran Park) Snellen

A closely matched field of five for the finale. Gavin Cromwell's filly Snellen was second-best in a €60,000 Leopardstown handicap over 1m1f (good) earlier this month when taking on older horses as a swing in the weights helped Lady Lunette turn around previous form from Limerick, where Gary Carroll's partner had won for the first time since the Chesham at Royal Ascot last summer.

The Expert Eye filly has been found a good opening here getting plenty weight from these four rivals.
