Gordon Elliott sets Long Walk target for The Wallpark
Gordon Elliott's rising star The Wallpark could make an appearance at Ascot next month in the Howden Long Walk Hurdle.
The gelding has won on his last four starts and is now set to make the jump to Grade One level on December 21.
Successful in a Listed event at Galway in August, he got a taste of British action when making an appearance in a Pertemps qualifier at Cheltenham’s October meeting, having no problem with his first try at three miles.
“He’s one who doesn’t do anything fancy at home, but he keeps winning. I thought the last win at Cheltenham was probably as good a run as he’s had,” said Elliott.
“We’re probably looking at going maybe for the Long Walk Hurdle with him now. He’s probably still five or six pounds below the best stayers in England, but we’ll roll the dice and see where we are.”
