Friday becomes Tuesday at Epsom as Aidan O'Brien wins thrilling tenth Oaks

O'Brien's Thoughts Of June had taken them along from flagfall under Wayne Lordan and led them around Tattenham Corner and into the home straight but was soon consumed by the field.

Dettori and Moore have been the two standout jockeys in big events for decades now and it was the latter whose vision won the day. Frankie had to sit and suffer at the back of the field after Emily Upjohn missed the break.

As a result, he had to come across the the stands rail, while Moore, who was closer to the pace, chose to go down the centre. Once he kicked Tuesday clear inside the final two furlongs, she slipped the field.

She was always likely to stick on right through the line and, despite the favourite eating up ground with every stride inside the final furlong, she and Dettori came up just short.

Considering this was the day on which the winner turned three, it was a phenomenal effort and she can surely only get better.

A delighted Aidan O'Brien called her "A very special filly" and added "As we watched the race we knew Ryan was a good way back and the pace was nice but it wasn't too fast.

"We just felt that it was going to be hard to come from the back but the next thing when we looked again Ryan (Moore) was there challenging. He's time it to perfection.

"It was a hard thing to be able to judge. She's never run over further than a mile so we didn't know what she was going to be able to do and whether her capacity would run out.

"She's very special. She's run in two Classics already and she's only three today. We tried to keep her at a mile because we knew she was too young. We were obviously trying to win a Classic with her but try to give her as easy time as we could. It was unbelievable."

On future plans, her trainer added that she could go for the Pretty Polly Stakes or the Irish Oaks, or possibly both, before an autumn campaign.

A downcast Dettori said of Emily Upjohn: "She fell over (leaving the stalls), she slipped, lost her footing and fell over. I found myself last and going past all the field, I wish I had the pleasure to have the rail but I didn't, Ryan (Moore) had that pleasure and I had to make a challenge on the outside.

"She made up a lot of ground and she was an unlucky loser.

"I wanted to see if she had all her shoes, generally when they do that they leave a shoe on the ground. It's one of those things. She should have won, it's as simple as that."
