Eleven runners will line up for the Sky Bet Sunday Series Middle-Distance Handicap and with a competitive-looking field, a price of around 9/4 on the favourite is not tempting.
Latent Heat reached his peak at a rating of 70 after winning a mile race at Goodwood in 2020. He won another race at a mile on the all-weather track in 2022, but his performance has been declining ever since.
Despite finishing fifth behind Sympathise at Chepstow after a slow start, he is now nine pounds better off today. The odds are attractive because many of his rivals may struggle with the distance.
Latent Heat is a temperamental sort but has the quality and as his prices continue to drift, now may be the right time to pounce.
