Exclusive: Oisin Murphy previews his rides for the final day at Royal Ascot
Leading jockey Oisin Murphy has teamed up with Star Sports for Royal Ascot - and gives a preview of his booked rides on Saturday, as well as reviewing how he fared on Friday.
Murphy has provided a preview of his rides and chances on his
Star Sports blog every day this week - and here is a taste of what's to come ahead of the final day at Royal Ascot.
Looking back at Friday's action, the jockey said: "Winning any Group 1 is a special day. To win it on that horse, I was replacing James Doyle who ordinarily would've ridden him so I feel for James.
"Brilliant to get on the scoresheet. I had struggled up to that point with three second-placed finishes. I'm absolutely over the moon.
"He missed the break a couple of lengths but perhaps in hindsight that's what won him the race because he was able to creep in to it and deliver late. Perhaps if I was on the front end, he might have used too much petrol in the early stages."
SAYEDATY SADATY
I kick-off the final day of the meeting aboard Sayedaty Sadaty 14/1 which means 'Ladies and Gentlemen' in Arabic.
He was just beaten on the line at Yarmouth last time out and is a colt with a bright future.
It's a competitive race and one where you have to respect Aidan O'Brien who has won four of the last seven runnings.
He fields the filly Pearls And Rubies who looks the one to beat, but I am nicely drawn near them in stall 10.
ART POWER
It was a real pleasure to get the leg up on Art Power 18/1 for the first time at the Curragh on his last start to win a Group 2.
He is an older horse who has been terrific for the last few seasons.
I'm really looking forward to riding him and genuinely think he has a massive outside chance - let's hope the Australians are beatable!
Artorius deserves to be favourite on what he has achieved, and he looks the one. Wellington represents Hong Kong and he's been a terrific servant for Richard Gibson over the last few years.
At a big price, Sandrine likes Ascot, won the Albany Stakes as a two-year-old, and can go very well.
TYPEWRITER
My last ride of the meeting is Typewriter 11/1 for Andrew Balding. She is by Gleneagles and has done nothing wrong to date.
We are not certain if she will stay, but if she does, she will have more than enough class to be there at the business end.
I respect Stratum at the top of the market. You'd imagine the drying ground may not be to his exact liking, but hopefully, Typewriter will be bang there.
