Epsom Dash racing tips: The Thin Blue Line tipped for sprint success

Epsom Dash

Don’t blink or you might miss this high-octane sprint that should take under a minute to complete, with many of the 20 starters carrying high hopes of getting their nose in front at the line.

15:20 Aston Martin 'Dash' Handicap (5 furlongs)

There's plenty in with a shout in this wide-open five-furlong dash, and that is reflected by the broad range of tips recommended by Tipstrr's racing experts in what looks like a pinsticker's paradise.

Anyone looking for juicy each-way odds should keep an eye on Lord Riddiford and Papa Don't Preach, but of the outsiders it is The Thin Blue Line who has attracted the most support.

A prolific performer at this level, this willing five-year-old raced 24 times in 2022, picking up four wins and seven further frame finishes along the way.

He has pretty much maintained that strike rate this term, firstly leaving 14 rivals in his wake to win at Musselburgh in April, and then coming within the length of a horse's neck of enjoying back-to-back successes at Hamilton two weeks later.

He was less effective when forced to race wide at Carlisle 12 days ago (fifth of nine), but with Cam Hardie in the saddle and carrying close to a stone less than some of the market leaders, it would be no surprise to see him occupying one of the seven each-way places that are available with some bookies.

Suggested bet: The Thin Blue Line each-way in the 15:20 at Epsom

Of those market leaders, Vintage Clarets is usually there or thereabouts, but it is Mokaatil who has caught the eye of most Tipstrr pundits, and this eight-year-old gelding does have a few factors seemingly in his favour.

Firstly, he landed this very race in 2021, and then won over this course and distance again last spring, since when he enjoyed further success at Sandown last August.
It did take him a race or two to hit form last season, so he can perhaps be forgiven this term's pipe-opener at Newmarket in April, when he finished seven lengths off the pace.

His headgear is to be deployed again for this big-field handicap, while Sean Bowen's seven-pound allowance means that Mokaatil will be carrying significant less than all but the two claiming bottom-weights.

Suggested bet: Mokaatil each-way in the 15:20 at Epsom
