Coronation Cup racing tip: Frankie Dettori eyes more Epsom glory on Emily Upjohn
The opening day of the Derby meeting builds up to the Epsom Oaks with the prestigious Coronation Cup, which might be small in numbers but is high in quality.
15:10 Dahlbury Coronation Cup (1 mile 4 furlongs)
While the German raider, Tunnes, is the least fancied entrant, it has garnered enough market support to ensure that all five runners are covered by just a handful of betting points, suggesting we could be in for a thrilling race.
Rob Hornby is aboard the early favourite, Westover, but he will have three champion jockeys breathing down his neck as Frankie Dettori, William Buick and Ryan Moore pilot Emily Upjohn, Hurricane Lane and Point Lonsdale respectively.
The consensus within the Tipstrr community appears to side with Dettori adding another Group 1 accolade to his belt aboard the Gosden-trained Emily Upjohn, who has won four of her six outings, including signing off last season with an impressive win in the Mares' and Fillies' Stakes at Ascot's British Champions' meeting in October.
Prior to that, she had been an extremely unfortunate runner-up in the 2022 Oaks, rallying to finish just a short head behind Tuesday, despite stumbling at the start and then being forced wide.
Dettori has held the reins for all of her rides, and is sure to extract the best run from this progressive filly, who has the class to exploit the three-pound advantage over her four male rivals.
Suggested bet: Emily Upjohn each-way in the 15:10 at Epsom
