With so many unexposed types in the line-up, the market leader will need to keep an eye out for the likely challenge coming from Faceman, a once raced gelding who was last seen making his career debut at Listowel 18 days ago.
Sent off a 14/1 shot, the willing five-year-old performed with more credit than the market suggested on that occasion, eventually finishing a promising third of 12, and leaving the impression that better things are round the corner.
As a half-brother to four winning hurdlers, connections have high hopes for quick improvement, and this looks to be the kind of assignment that Faceman can use to progress from his promising debut run, and he might just be ready to step up and give the hot favourite food for thought down the stretch.
