Corbetts Cross headed for Betfair Chase
The Betfair Chase at Haydock later this month is the preferred destination for Corbetts Cross, if the ground conditions are right.
The Emmet Mullins-trained seven-year-old won the National Hunt Chase at last season’s Cheltenham Festival and then finished behind Gerri Colombe and Ahoy Senor in the Aintree Bowl.
He returned to action this October with a second of three in a Listed chase at Wexford, but connections are expecting a better showing at Aintree on November 23.
“That’s the plan, depending on ground,” said Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus.
“Ground will have a big bearing on it, but he’s in good form and came out of his last race well.
“He needs to come forward from that (run at Wexford), but I’m sure he will.”
