Best bet at Chester races: Code Purple can confirm class after spring break

Boodles Ladies Day at Chester Racecourse

To round off another busy day at the races, our Tipstrr team have run the numbers to provide us with one of their most popular selections in the very last race at Chester’s evening meeting.

20:40 Chester: Camden Stout Handicap (7 furlongs)

There's plenty of experienced handicappers lining up for the evening finale, but most of the buzz in the Tipstrr camp is that Code Purple can justify being a rock solid favourite at around the 3/1 mark.

This Ben Haslam-trained four-year-old has made the frame in each of his last four outings, with two runner-up spots bookending half-length successes over this distance at Newcastle and Redcar in March and April.
He was sent off as the even-money favourite last time out at Musselburgh 70 days ago, but was never able to recover after being hopelessly boxed in two furlongs out, and could only make the runner-up spot without ever challenging the winner.

Planet Sport Bet: Bet £20+ cash on any runner in the race and if Code Purple wins by more than 1 length, get a £5 Free Bet!

Code Purple's reins are taken for the first time here by Hayley Turner, who has won on three of her 20 rides so far this month and has won on 11 of her 61 starts at Chester over the last five years.
Trainer Haslam boasts a 100% record at Chester, albeit over the minimum sample size of just one 13/8 favourite in May 2022, and he also has the well-fancied Purple Martini lining up in this same race.

If Code Purple can hit the same form after his 10-week break that he was enjoying beforehand, then he should have enough in the tank to show his class at this level.

Suggested bet: Code Purple in the 20:40 at Chester
