Ascot free racing tip: Unfancied stablemate can chase Kyprios home in Long Distance Cup

Kyprios

It’s British Champions Day at Ascot, and the high-octane action kicks off with the eagerly anticipated Long Distance Cup, featuring some of the world’s best-performing stayers of the year.

13:20 Ascot: Long Distance Cup (1 mile 7½ furlongs)

Odds-on favourite Kyprios will take all the beating after winning all six of his starts this year, including both the prestigious Gold Cup at Royal Ascot and the Goodwood Cup for the formidable Aidan O’Brien/Ryan Moore partnership.

Suggested best bet: Kyprios to win the 13:20 at Ascot

However, the fact that five of the nine runners are priced above 20/1 has piqued the interest of Tipstrr’s each-way specialists, with O’Brien’s second string, The Euphrates, looking to build further on his promising fourth place (3¾ lengths behind stablemate Kyprios) in last month’s Irish St Leger at the Curragh.

Having already tasted victory twice at Gowran Park, The Euphrates then produced a career-best performance when last seen back at the Curragh in the Irish Cesarewitch three weeks ago.

Fully justifying the market support that saw him sent off as the 7/2 favourite, he produced a brilliant run and a commanding finish under Moore, seeing off 29 rivals over an extended two miles on good-to-soft ground

As the only three-year-old in the line-up, The Euphrates receives a valuable 8lb weight allowance here, which puts him well in at the weights for his new rating of 114, and makes him a very interesting prospect capable of putting himself in the each-way mix.

Outsider punt: The Euphrates each-way in the 13:20 at Ascot
