Aintree Festival 2023: Red Rum Handicap Chase tips - Stage set for Third Time Lucki

Grand National at Aintree

The Red Rum Chase is another great chance to get one over on the bookies, so we’ve brought you another couple of tips from the Tipstrr team that might help us do just that.

There can't be many racing fans who don't know that this race is named after the legendary Red Rum, who won the Grand National three times (1973, 1974 and 1977) and finished runner-up in the two intervening years.
The renewal has been won by some notable names over the years, with Editeur Du Gite winning in 2021, while last year's 12/1 winner The Last Day lines up again at a similar price, as does the 2022 runner-up Dancing On My Own.

However, the consensus of opinion on Tipstrr appears to lie with top-weight Third Time Lucki, who has been progressing nicely for the Dan Skelton yard throughout a busy winter campaign.

He backed up a solid win at Sandown in February with a more than respectable fourth place in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham, and with Harry Skelton again on board he is primed to give another good showing here

Suggested bet: Third Time Lucki in the 16:40 at Aintree

Lower down the market, Mackenburg appears to be flying under the radar for a horse that won his first five starts over fences.
That form has been more elusive recently, but he showed a spark of recovery when finishing third at Doncaster last time out, and with Brian Hughes returning to the saddle, he could out-run his outsider price here

Each-way punt: Mackenburg in the 16:40 at Aintree
