The Masters 2023 best betting tips: Patrick Reed and Tommy Fleetwood have strong claims at big odds

Patrick Reed, LIV Series

Golf tipping expert Jack Kelliher from GingerBets picks out his top four selections for the 2023 Masters, including some big-priced chances.

Rory McIlroy

The big headline selection will be a fairly obvious choice for many - Rory McIlroy at around 13/2.

He arrives here with a win to his name earlier in the year in the Middle East.

He's got his driver firing on all cylinders, which is key to success in his game in general, but also here at the Augusta National.

But the stat that I want to leave you with, that most excites me about Rory this week.

The conditions are predicted to be wet. The course has been lengthened and there are rumours there will be a bigger emphasis on wedge play, those scoring shots from 50 to 100 yards.

Well Rory McIlroy since the turn of the year, often a weakness in his game, has turned it into a strength.
He ranks in the top five players in the whole of the PGA Tour from 50 to 100 yards out, and I believe unlocking that scoring potential could be the key to a grand slam and a green jacket.

Xander Schauffele

My second selection of the week will be Xander Schauffele at around 22/1.
Second here in 2019, third here in 2021. Both demonstrate his liking for the course setup.
He's a proven performer in Major Championships where he gains half a stroke more than he does in standard PGA tour events, which means he rises to the occasion.

He's been knocking on the door in these Major Championships. Two top 20s in his last three majors, good form at Augusta National, but it's his wedge game, much like I've touched upon with Rory McIlroy, that's the reason that he gets the nod this week for me.

He hits it within five foot from 50 to 100 yards 27 per cent of the time since the turn of the year.

That's 10 per cent more than what some of the top players do on average throughout the season.

So he's absolutely dialled in with wedge in hand, he arrives here in good form, he always peaks at the Major Championships, he's got an outstanding chance at a big price.

Patrick Reed

We're going to jump down that market now and get to some bigger price picks, Patrick Reed will be my third selection.

A previous winner here, three other top 10s here, and an elite level short game.
And if the conditions are to be difficult this week, then players are going to miss the green 25 to 30 per cent of the time.
That's the winner by the way, not some of those further down the leaderboard, which means that scrambling is going to be of key importance.
Well he's one of the best scramblers on tour, he's proven that he can do it in Major Championships.
His form isn't as bad as people may think, he was fifth last week in the latest LIV golf event.
And he took Rory McIlroy down the stretch just a few months back in Dubai, his chances are being underestimated this week at 55/1.

Tommy Fleetwood

My fourth and final selection of the week will be a player that's got an outstanding chance in my view, and he arrives here with three top 20s at the event previously.
Tommy Fleetwood drives the ball extremely well and he's long enough off the tee to tame the Augusta National.

He's got a short game that is underrated and as we've touched upon in the other selections, this is going to be of key importance this week; it is every single year at the Masters.

I believe he's got the temperament to take home the green jacket.

He comes in slightly under the radar, but his odds reflect that and I believe that he can outrun those and make a challenge on Sunday come the back nine.

Good luck with your selections this week.
