Who will win the 2022 Masters at Augusta National?

Xander Schauffele at the 2021 US Open

Our three experts take a look at the likely winner of the first Major Championship of the year.

It’s a tight Masters to call this year with a packed field that has even had Tiger Woods added to the list of contenders.

Who will win this week? We asked our three experts.

Peter Farries said: “Every time I come back to the field I see the name of Joaquin Niemann. For me his form is very good. He won the Genesis Invitational in what became a scoring shootout and he had a really good Farmers as well.

“He has a fantastic chance of wearing the green jacket come Sunday night.”

Sport feature writer Dave Tindall is expecting a strong performance from an American.

"My idea of the Masters winner is Xander Schauffele," he said. "He has really good record in the Majors, landing top 10s in nine of 18 starts.

"At Augusta he's finished second behind Tiger Woods in 2019 and third behind Hideki Matsuyama last year. He comes here in good nick. He's long off the tee, has a nice short game and it could be his year."

Golf feature writer Matt Cooper believes the Aussie's could be celebrating. "I like Cameron Smith," he said. "He's in red hot form, winning the Tournament of Champions and he backed it up at THE PLAYERS Championship with another win.

"He's great on and around the green, and has been brilliant approaching them this year. He can build on his three course top 10 finishes."
