Taylor Pendrith leads PGA Tour's 3M Open after stunning 64
Taylor Pendrith took a two-stroke lead over Matt NeSmith at the 3M Open, where he is chasing his second win of the season.
A tight competition wrapped up the second round of the tournament on Friday at TPC Twin Cities in Bline, Minnesota.
The Canadian, ranked 59th globally, carded a seven-under 64 on Friday, with a 30-foot birdie putt on the par-four 16th.
Pendrith's final run also featured an eight-foot birdie on the 15th.
His final birdie of the day came on the 18th hole, getting him to 12 under for the tournament heading into the weekend.
"That was fun," Pendrith said. "Game is in a good spot and I've been playing really nicely the first two days here, so hopefully keep it up."
"I've been hitting the ball really solidly, hitting a lot of greens," he added. "Today was pretty tricky with the wind, it was blowing pretty hard at times, so my speed was great all day and stayed really patient.
NeSmith carded a 64 on Friday to finish two shots behind Pendrith on 10 under.
First-round leader Jacob Bridgeman is a shot further back alongside countryman Andrew Putnam.
"I played really solid," NeSmith said. "I've been putting really well for the last three weeks or so. It has been very hot. I've just been working on it, it's finally starting to come through."
