PGA Tour: Patrick Rodgers eyes Sunday silverware at Valero Texas Open

Patrick Rogers

Patrick Rodgers has a narrow lead ahead of Corey Conners as the Valero Texas Open heads into the final round on Sunday.

The American - who started the day with three-stroke lead - signed for a one under 71 around TPC Santonio, enough to take him to 11 under for the tournament, one shot lead over Conners while veteran Matt Kuchar lurks alone in third on nine under.
The field endured a breezy third round around the Oaks Course carding three birdies and two bogeys, including one on the last, to hold onto a his slight lead.
"I didn't quite take advantage the way I had in the previous rounds," admitted Rodgers on pgatour.com.
"A little sloppy with the wedge play. A little sloppy on the greens. But I knew there was a long way to go heading into today. I think we all know what's at stake with a win out here. "I haven't gotten the job done in my career, but it's quite a thrill."
Meanwhile, first round leader Conners bounced back from his second-round 72 with a three under 69 to remain very much in contention.
"I love this golf course and feel really comfortable out here," said the Candian.
"It's going to be a fun battle, but I'll be giving it my all."
Further down the leaderboard, American Chris Kirk and Sam Stevens are tied for fourth on eight under.
