PGA Tour: Jonas Blixt sets course alight to lead John Deere Classic

Jonas Blixt 2023

Jonas Blixt has a two-shot lead after the opening round of the John Deere Classic in Illinois on Thursday.

Jonas Blixt is hunting his fourth PGA Tour win at this week's John Deere Classic.
The Swede, who missed the cut on the Korn Ferry Tour last week and only had conditional status on the PGA Tour, fired five birdies and an eagle in his final eight holes.
The world number 842, who has won three times on tour but not since 2017, finished with a nine-under-par 62 to lead by two from American Grayson Murray, who bogeyed the last having reached eight under after 13 holes.
"Golf is weird... Like, tomorrow I can shoot 100 I feel like, but today was a great day," quipped the 39-year-old.
"I played a lot of years on TOUR, and I'm very thankful for it, and I got to play with a lot of good players, a lot of good golf courses, a lot of good sponsors.
"Sometimes you just have to be grateful for what you have and what you experience as well and not always think about what could have been. So I kind of lean on that a little bit. Obviously, I'm still hungry. I'm not saying that I'm quitting."
Cameron Young, the highest-ranked player in the field at 19, also bogeyed the last to fall back into a share of third with a 65.
Ireland's Seamus Power was among those a further shot back.
