Ben Griffin extends lead at Sanderson Farms Championship, closes in on maiden PGA Tour win

The 36-hole leader extended his cushion at the front, carding a third-round six under 66 at the Country Club of Jackson to move to 20 under for the tournament, three strokes ahead of Carl Yuan.

Griffin's scrambling skills were on point in his final three holes, getting up and down for par on each of them On the 18th, he chipped out from a bunker and rolled in a six-foot putt to remain bogey-free for his round. "I got myself out of position on a number of holes, maybe made the wrong decision," Griffin told pgatour.com.

"But I feel like one of the strengths of my game is scrambling. And I had to do that on a few holes. Otherwise, I pretty much hit my targets all day."

Stallings moved up the leaderboard when he tied the lowest round of the day with a 65, which included an eagle on the par four 15th. Stallings got valuable information watching his playing partner chip into the short par four, leading to an impressive 50-foot chip-in.

"I was going to play a completely different shot until I saw how fast his ball was once it got past the hole," said Stallings.

"I was literally trying to check-spin it just over the edge, and obviously it got super lucky going in. But I was happy with how I executed it."

Ryder Cup winner Ludwig Aberg is down in T8 on 14 under, six shots behind leader Griffin.
