Super Kings and Capitals charge to victory to spice up SA20 standings
In a thrilling day of cricket, both the Pretoria Capitals and Joburg Super Kings secured crucial victories to shake up the SA20 standings.
The Capitals, led by a sensational display from Senuran Muthusamy, pulled off a remarkable four-wicket win against Mumbai Indians Cape Town at Newlands.
Despite a shaky start in their chase of 164, Muthusamy's blistering 38 not out, supported by Theunis de Bruyn's 42, guided them home with just two balls to spare.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians had posted 163/9, thanks to Kyle Verreynne's brisk 34 and contributions from other batsmen.
Meanwhile, in a high-scoring encounter at the Wanderers, the Joburg Super Kings completed the highest successful run chase in SA20 history to defeat Durban's Super Giants by seven wickets.
Chasing an imposing target of 204, the Super Kings were propelled by Faf du Plessis's explosive 57 and Leus du Plooy's composed 57.
Wayne Madsen's unbeaten 44 and vital cameos from Moeen Ali and Donovan Ferreira sealed the thrilling win, securing their spot in the semi-finals.
For the Super Giants, Jon Jon Smuts and Wiaan Mulder's gritty half-centuries set the platform for their challenging total, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Super Kings' remarkable victory.
