SA20: Sunrisers Eastern Cape beat Durban Super Giants to book spot in final
In a rain-disrupted SA20 qualifier, Sunrisers Eastern Cape secured a convincing 51-run victory over Durban's Super Giants to advance to the final.
Chasing 158 for victory, Super Giants struggled against disciplined Sunrisers bowling, collapsing to 18/3 in the powerplay.
Despite efforts from Quinton de Kock (23 off 23) and Wiaan Mulder (38 off 34), both falling to Liam Dawson, the lower order failed to provide substantial support, with Heinrich Klaasen's brisk 23 off 15 in vain.
Sunrisers' pace duo Ottniel Baartman (4/10) and Marco Jansen (4/17) starred, restricting Super Giants to 106 all out.
Earlier, Sunrisers' solid start, courtesy of Dawid Malan (63 off 45) and Jordan Hermann (21 off 19), was disrupted by rain after seven overs.
Resuming at 61/1, Malan led the charge until Dwaine Pretorius dismissed him in the 14th over. Aiden Markram's 30 off 23 propelled Sunrisers to 157/8.
Super Giants' bowlers, led by Keshav Maharaj (2/30) and Junior Dala (2/35), struggled to contain the Sunrisers onslaught, despite Reece Topley's economical spell.
Sunrisers advanced to the final, while Super Giants face a qualifier against Paarl Royals or Joburg Super Kings on Thursday. The winner of that clash will challenge Sunrisers in the final on Saturday.
