Rohit Sharma shines as India triumph over Afghanistan in T20 duel featuring two super overs
Rohit Sharma's explosive batting propelled India to a thrilling T20 international victory against Afghanistan securing the win in two super overs with three sixes.
Sharma had earlier struck an unbeaten 121 in India's 212 for four, his fifth century in the format, as he plundered eight maximums and 11 fours in his 69-ball innings.
But half-centuries from Rahmanulla Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran and Gulbadin Naib saw Afghanistan also score 212 from their 20 overs.
Gurbaz and Mohammad Nabi hit boundaries in Afghanistan's first Super Over to set a target of 17, but Sharma cleared the rope twice to level and force another decider.
He plundered another four and six as Afghanistan were set 12 to win a first-ever international match against India, but Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets in the first three balls to end the contest and secure his side a series whitewash.
