Rain dashes Bangladesh's hopes of forcing ODI win over Ireland
Rain dashed Bangladesh’s hopes of forcing a second emphatic victory over Ireland in a matter of days after the second one-day international in Sylhet was abandoned.
Bangladesh, who thrashed the tourists by 183 runs in the series opener on Saturday, piled up a national record 349 for six in their 50 overs as the sides met again on Monday.
Unfortunately for them the weather then intervened and prevented the Irish beginning their reply.
Mushfiqur Rahim had top-scored for the hosts as he rattled up his country's fastest ODI century from 60 balls. His unbeaten 100 included 14 fours and two sixes.
Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto earlier weighed in with 70 and 73 respectively, while Graham Hume was the pick of Ireland's bowling with three for 58.
The final match in the three-game series takes place on Thursday.
