Moeen Ali says he would 'definitely' reverse his Test retirement to play in Pakistan tour this year

Moeen Ali racked up 64 Test appearances for England during his career, but despite his retirement last September, the 34-year-old hasn't ruled out adding to that tally.

England head to Pakistan later this year, and with Ali sharing family links with the nation - alongside the team's desperate need for a talented all-rounder - he could find himself back in the international setup in a few months time.

"When, or if, McCullum wants me, I'll definitely play in Pakistan," said Ali.

"I have played Pakistan Super League out there a few years ago but it's not the same, to travel with an England side there having family background from that part of the world will be amazing. It would be a historic event because of England not touring there for so many years.

"I know the support and love you can get out there, they love cricket. It's really something that's very appealing for sure."

McCullum's appointment as head coach marked a new era for an England side going under plenty of changes right now.

But while McCullum is looking to help this England team start on a new page, he did reach out to Ali to try and convince him to return to the side.

Ali evidently refused the offer, but he's since revealed that he found it to be a difficult decision.

"I find it very hard to say no to him. He scares me a little bit. We're going to have a chat and see how it pans out," he said.

"He is a very difficult person to say no to. I find that very, very hard. He is very convincing and to be honest I would love to play under him and Ben Stokes. They are both very aggressive and I think I would suit their cricket a bit more.

"At the time I said I was retired I felt like I was done. I felt really tired with cricket."

But Ali seems refreshed and ready to return to the side. Could he make an appearance in the squad for the Pakistan trip? Time will tell.
