Liverpool omit captain Jordan Henderson for friendly amid Saudi Arabia interest
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been left out of the squad to play their first pre-season friendly in Germany due to ongoing interest from Saudi Arabia.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been omitted from the squad to play their first pre-season friendly in Germany amid talk of a move to Saudi Arabia for the veteran midfielder.
The 33-year-old is believed to have verbally accepted a reported £700,000-a-week offer from Al-Ettifaq, the club managed by his former team-mate Steven Gerrard.
As a result, despite no bid yet being received, the PA news agency understands a decision was taken to omit the England international from the squad facing Karlsruhe later on Wednesday.
Liverpool have already left one player at home with the club receiving an offer for Fabinho from Saudi Pro-League side Al-Ittihad.
