Lancashire loan England spinner Matt Parkinson to Durham

Matt Parkinson could be involved for England during the third Test vs West Indies

Matt Parkinson will play for Durham against Derbyshire in the County Championship.

Durham have announced the loan signing of Lancashire and England leg-spinner Matt Parkinson for their LV= Insurance County Championship clash against Derbyshire this week.
Slow left-armer Matt Kuhnemann reported feeling stiffness in his back so Durham moved quickly to secure cover for the Australian for their next Division Two match, starting on Thursday at Chester-le-Street.
Parkinson, who has represented England on a dozen occasions across formats but not since last July, started his season with a five-for in the second innings of Lancashire's draw against Essex this month.
However, Lancashire went with only one spinner at Somerset last week as Tom Hartley was preferred, and Parkinson will now link up with Durham for two weeks to get gametime away from Emirates Old Trafford.
Lancashire's director of cricket performance Mark Chilton said: "Following conversations between Matt and the club's coaching staff, it was agreed that game time in the County Championship would be preferable.
"Earlier this week, an opportunity arose for Matt to join Durham on loan and the deal has been agreed between both counties and the player.
"This is a great opportunity for him to get some more overs under his belt in a more competitive environment.
"We are looking forward to seeing how he performs and to welcoming him back into the squad."
