Joshua Da Silva pleased West Indies don't have to face James Anderson at Trent Bridge

West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Joshua Da Silva is pleased not to be facing James Anderson at Trent Bridge this week.

Da Silva was Anderson 704th — and final — Test wicket in the first Test at Lord's, succumbing to a classic piece of swing and seam from the record-breaking paceman.

It was a piece of history he had no interest in being part of and a contest he has no desire to revisit, suggesting the tourists are content with England's decision to move their record wicket-taker into a behind-the-scenes role.

"What a legend he is," Da Silva said. "I'm happy I don't to have to see him again.

"I tried my hardest not to be one of those wickets but unfortunately I got a good Jimmy seed. I told him after the game I was trying really hard and he had a good laugh.

"It's nice to see the back of him but if he was to have played, we'd still go about it in the same way.

"Obviously what he's done in Test cricket is phenomenal but at the end of the day, it's just numbers and he's still a person who can have bad days.

"Whoever they put out, we have to play."

The West Indies were outclassed in the series-opener, thrashed by an innings and 114 runs, but Da Silva is hoping to channel the spirit that saw them come back from a similar drubbing against Australia earlier this year to claim a famous underdog victory in Brisbane.

"It's something we can look at," he said. "We came back and we won the Test and if we can replicate that, all of us will be really happy.

"It's not going to be easy again. We need to do the right things, bat for long periods of time and take wickets.

"West Indies getting back to winning ways, winning consistently and having consistent performances is what the world wants to see, and what we want to see."
