Faf du Plessis blasts Joburg Super Kings to victory in rain-affect affair
The Joburg Super Kings earned an emphatic ten-wicket win over MI Cape Town in a rain-affected SA20 clash at Newlands on Monday.
Put in to bat on a blustery and gloomy day in Cape Town, the hosts put on a measured start. Rassie van der Dussen was the first to perish for 16 after chipping to du Plessis at cover.
At 43/1 at the end of the sixth over, Cape Town's first rain of 2014 came down. When pay returned nearly two hours later, that match had been shortened to eight overs a side and MI Cape Town had two overs to clear the ropes as many times as possible. They finished 80/3 and DLS adjusted the target to 98 for the Super Kings.
Leus du Plooy and du Plessis came to the crease in a belligerent mood. du Plooy cracked four sixes for his 41 not out off just 14 balls, only to be slightly outdone by his captain he brought up his 50 in 20 as the Super Kings won by ten wickets.
