England batter Tom Abell out of white-ball tour of Bangladesh

A side injury has ruled Somerset captain Tom Abell out of England's upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh.

The uncapped batter sustained the issue while bowling during England Lions' win against Sri Lanka A in Colombo on Wednesday.
Abell captained the Lions but was unable to bat in their four-wicket victory and will not join Jos Buttler's white-ball squad in Bangladesh next month.
"Tom Abell has been ruled out of the England men's white-ball tour of Bangladesh after suffering a side injury during yesterday's England Lions match in Colombo," an England and Wales Cricket Board spokesperson said.
"Abell underwent a scan today, after he suffered the injury while bowling against Sri Lanka A, and is set to return home to begin his recovery."
A fine 2022 saw Abell earn a first call-up for the white-ball series in Bangladesh where England will play three Twenty20s and three one-day internationals over two weeks.
England will not call up a replacement to either squad.
