Dewald Brevis ready for 'proper heat' if he makes South Africa debut against Australia

Dewald Brevis

Dewald Brevis says he is ready for 'proper heat' and 'lots of fighting' ahead of a potential international debut for South Africa against Australia.

Dewald Brevis could make his international debut for South Africa against Australia in the three-match T20 series that starts on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old received his maiden Proteas call-up for the white-ball matches against the Aussies that gets underway with three T20s in Durban from Wednesday.
The young batter has been in camp with his national teammates for the last few days as they gear up for the T20s and five ODIs that will follow.
The eight white-ball games will serve as a precursor to the ODI World Cup with players fighting for spots in the final squad that will go to India.
Brevis said from the team camp in Centurion: "It's really been amazing these last few days because a dream has come true for me.
"From a very young age, I've wanted to be part of this amazing set-up of the Proteas. It's been an honour and it's been wonderful to live my dream and to spend time with the team. Couldn't have asked for anything better."
The Proteas and Australia have had some fierce battles over the years and Brevis is ready for anything the tourists will throw at him on the field.
"I must say I am so excited because it's going to be proper heat and lots of fighting so I can't wait for that," he said. "I always like it so I can't wait to go out there and just run straight into them, give your best.
"It's going to be exciting because they are one of the top cricketing nations so it's going to be good cricket and hard cricket."
There will be some pressure on the schoolboy prodigy with him being dubbed 'Baby AB' for his batting style being similar to Proteas legend AB de Villiers.
He has already made a name for himself in T20 leagues around the world having featured in the IPL, SA20 and MLC with the Mumbai franchise.
Brevis though is taking it all in his stride though, saying: "I know there will always be expectations and I always like that because there is more reason to show who you are then.
"Pressure is always there; I feel the pressure, but I like it. It's just how you deal with it, just being yourself and enjoying the moment and trying not to think too much of it.
"I just want people to get to know me as Dewald Brevis and just see how I go about my things and I want to inspire people and be an example for people."
