Bangladesh opened their Cricket World Cup journey with a commanding six-wicket victory over Afghanistan in Dharamsala.

Captain Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz each took three wickets as Afghanistan were skittled for 156 in 37.2 overs.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz top-scored for Afghanistan with 47 while fellow opener Ibrahim Zadran also made a decent contribution of 22.

Afghanistan were looking in decent shape on 112/2 but lost their last eight wickets for just 44 runs.

For Bangladesh, Mehidy followed up his solid bowling performance by adding 57 with the bat, before an unbeaten 59 from Najmul Hossain Shanto guided them home with 92 balls to spare.
