Terence Crawford's five-fight form guide ahead of Shawn Porter fight

Crawford Horn

Crawford has won his last five fights, including two wins inside the distance against British duo Khan and Brook, who could be fighting each other next year.

Terence Crawford is rated as one of the best boxers in world when it comes to Pound for Pound.
A three-weight world champion, Crawford is looking to cement himself as one of the all-time greats as he continues his quest to unify the welterweight division.

Ahead of his fifth world title defence against Shawn Porter in November, we take a look back at the recent form of the brilliant WBO champion "Bud" Crawford.

1) Terence Crawford vs Jeff Horn

Date: June 9, 2018

Location: MGM Grand Garden Arena, Paradise, Nevada

Result: TKO 9 - Won WBO welterweight title

Stepping up the welterweight class for the first time, Terence "Bud" Crawford would challenge Australian champion Jeff Horn at the MGM Grand Garden Arena as he looked to win a world title in a third weight class.
Already a world champion at 135lbs and 140lbs, Crawford had fully established himself as one of the finest Pound for Pound fighters in the game, and a chance to win a world title at a third different weight class would only add leverage to his already weighty achievements.
Standing in his way was the Australian Horn, who, despite boasting an unbeaten record and a shock win over Manny Pacquiao in 2017, entered the bout as an overwhelming underdog against the supremely skilled southpaw Crawford.

Dominating from the outset, Bud would put on a masterful boxing clinic against his bewildered opponent, eventually flooring an overwhelmed Horn in the final minute of round nine. Despite rising quickly to his feet, the brave Aussie would have no answer to the speed and dazzling combinations executed by the brilliant Nebraskan throughout the contest.
Mercilessly, the end would come with 27 seconds remaining in the round as Crawford once again affirmed his status as one of the best fighters anywhere in the sport.

2) Terence Crawford vs Jose Benavidez Jr.

Date: October 13, 2018

Location: CHI Health Center, Omaha, Nebraska

Result: TKO 12 - Retained WBO welterweight title

Four months on from his one-sided beat-down of Jeff Horn, Crawford would make the first defence of his WBO welterweight title when he took on the unbeaten José Benavidez Jr at the CHI Health Center in his home town of Omaha, Nebraska.
Having made easy work of Horn, Benavidez Jr was given little chance of unseating the newly crowned champion who, despite an unbeaten 27-0 record, entered the bout as a wide betting underdog.
Once again boxing with immense skill and outsmarting his opponent for much of the fight, Crawford would finally get to Benavidez Jr in round 12, nailing the challenger with a scintillating right uppercut.

While the California native would somehow rise to beat the count, a final onslaught from Crawford finished the contest with just 20 seconds remaining in the last stanza extending the unbeaten brilliant southpaws winning record to 34-0.
While perhaps not the most entertaining of Bud's recent victories, a brilliant stoppage late in the fight certainly satisfied the hometown crowd.

3) Terence Crawford vs Amir Khan

Date: April 20, 2019

Location: Madison Square Garden, New York

Result: TKO 6 - Retained WBO welterweight title

Following his 12th round KO victory against José Benavidez Jr at the back end of 2018, Crawford would make the second defence of his welterweight crown when he faced the always exciting Amir Khan at Madison Square Garden.

An undoubtedly skilled and entertaining champion in his time, Khan had already suffered three KO losses in his career coming into this bout.
While his punishing defeat at the hands of Canelo Alvarez in 2016 had won the Mexican knockout of the year, Khan, despite earning plenty of plaudits for having the cojones to enter the ring with the Guadalajara powerhouse, looked a shadow of the rapid and dangerous fighter that had earned world honours at the beginning of the decade.
Controlling the fight for the first six rounds, Crawford floored Khan early in round one and from then on, only one outcome looked likely.

Into the sixth round, a dominant Bud would land a blow well south of the beltline, and while the shot was ruled an accidental blow by referee David Fields, Khan's corner pulled their man out - rejecting the opportunity of a five minute period recuperation time limit that would have been allowed to Khan under the unified rules of boxing.
Perhaps sensing that the Brit stood next to no chance of fighting his way back into the fight, a technical KO victory would instead save Khan's ego, or indeed his chin from further punishment.

4) Terence Crawford vs Egidijus Kavaliauskas

Date: December 14, 2019

Location: Madison Square Garden, New York

Result: TKO 9 - Retained WBO welterweight title

Six months on from his somewhat unsatisfying victory over Amir Khan, Terence Crawford would make the next defence of his WBO title against the previously unbeaten Lithuanian Egidijus Kavaliauskas.
While somewhat unheralded, Kavaliauskas boasted a strong amateur pedigree, representing Lithuania in two Olympic games as well as picking up a bronze medal at the 2011 world championships.
Certainly, Kavaliauskas would come to fight and appeared to have the champion in serious trouble in round three, landing a big right hand that seemed to have floored and hurt Crawford. Instead, a slip was called, but this wasn't the easy title defence many had anticipated at the Garden.
After an evenly matched opening half to the fight, Crawford would step up the gas and rise to the occasion. He dropped the Lithuanian in the seventh round with an overhand right, and then, twice further in the ninth.
First with a brilliant uppercut before a final chopping right hand would finish off the Lithuanian with referee Ricky Gonzalez intervening to save Kavaliauskas from further punishment.

5) Terence Crawford vs Kell Brook

Date: November 14, 2020

Location: MGM Grand Conference Center, Paradise, Nevada

Result: TKO 4 - Retained WBO welterweight title.

Making the fourth defence of his WBO title, Crawford would next face the experienced former IBF champion Kell Brook at the MGM Grand Conference Center as he looked to extend his winning record to 37-0.
While Brook had once looked a formidable force in the welterweight ranks, claiming the IBF strap in a brilliant on the road victory against Shawn Porter in 2014, painful stoppage losses at the hands of Errol Spence Jr and Gennadiy Golovkin had removed some of the lustre on the Sheffield man's CV.
A badly damaged eye socket suffered in the KO defeat against Golovkin appeared to have seriously damaged the confidence and durability of Special K.
While this challenge might have once appeared a big one for the champion, Brook now appeared to be far from his once brilliant best.
Struggling to deal with the southpaw stance and brilliant skills of Crawford, Brook would succumb to a fourth-round technical KO following a sweet right hand that would floor the Brit.
Despite rising to beat the count, Bud would finish the job in double-quick style as he continued his dominance in the 147lb weight class with an eighth successive KO victory.
