Sunny Edwards vows to cook Andres Campos 'like sweet chilli' ahead of IBF flyweight title bout
Unbeaten Sunny Edwards is looking to savour a potentially spicy encounter with Andres Campos.
Sunny Edwards will fight for the first time under new promoters Matchroom on June 10 when he defends his IBF flyweight title against Andres Campos.
Edwards, who joined Eddie Hearn's stable of fighters last month, has outpointed Jayson Mama, Muhammad Waseem and Felix Alvarado since beating Moruti Mthalane in April 2021 to become world champion.
The Londoner (19-0, 4KOs) will make the fourth defence of his title in his home city at the OVO Arena Wembley against a Chilean opponent who has won 15 of his professional bouts, four inside the distance.
"Campos has been calling for a fight with me for a couple of years now since I've been champion which is strange to me," said Edwards.
"So now, I'm going to cook him like sweet chilli and send him back packing with his tail between his legs."
Edwards has been linked with world title unification contests against WBO champion Jesse Rodríguez and Julio Cesar Martinez, who holds the WBC crown.
Martinez's fight against Edwards' brother Charlie in August 2019 was overturned to a no-contest after the Briton was counted out having been hit in the ribs with one knee already on the canvas.
"Sunny headlines in his first fight with us and with those massive unification fights on the horizon, he'll be looking to shine against Andres, who can upset the odds in his first world title fight," Hearn said.
