Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya set for summer showdown on golf course
The pair have history with De La Hoya promoting the majority of his career until Canelo split from Golden Boy Promotions in 2020.
De La Hoya and Canelo appear to have no relationship after a bitter split but they will come up against each other on a two-day golfing event from June 30.
Since moving to a free agent, Canelo has worked with Premier Boxing Champions and Matchroom Boxing. He has since become the first undisputed super middleweight champion and will now bid to win another world title at light heavyweight on May 7.
De La Hoya will play for Team USA while Canelo will be part of the Rest of the World team.
Icons Series, a new concept in sport and entertainment, have picked some of sport's biggest names from around the world, including Pep Guardiola, Harry Kane and Ashleigh Barty.

"We're thrilled to launch the Icons Series in America with a Mount Rushmore of the world's best athletes, all incredible golfers and fierce competitors," said Icons Series CEO, Thomas Brookes.
"There's no better global stage than Liberty National and that stage is now set to welcome the most iconic athletes of all time for what will be an incredible spectacle."
"I love match-play golf and I'm looking forward to leading Team USA at Liberty National in June," said Couples.
"The pedigree of the athletes in my team speaks for itself and what could be better than to win at the place of our Presidents Cup victory in 2017. It promises to be a phenomenal tournament and we're excited to compete against Ernie's team of international icons."
"Icons Series and Liberty National are a perfect match," added Liberty National Golf Club GM Lee Smith. "Having hosted the Presidents Cup, we know first hand the power of this format and the transcendent fan experience it brings."
