Oscar De La Hoya: Ryan Garcia's next opponent will be revealed soon
Garcia has options on the table and will speak with Hall of Fame fighter and promoter Oscar De La Hoya this week.
Oscar De La Hoya is promising boxing fans a 'special' fight will be lined up for Ryan Garcia next.
The Golden Boy Promoter is looking to confirm the 22-year-old's next fight following his knockout victory over 2012 Olympic champion Luke Campbell in January.
"Kingry" stopped Campbell with a bodyshot to end proceedings in the seventh round to become the interim WBC titlist at lightweight.
"I need Ryan on top of the boxing world, I need him to make the decisions. Ryan Garcia literally has the world in the palm of his hands. Ryan just has to let us do our job, that's all," De La Hoya explained to DAZN.
"So we are excited about Ryan. He is the real deal. They dropped him in the second round, he came back and showed what it's all about."
Former world champion Javier Fortuna has been linked to Garcia's next bout while Garcia has admitted he wants to take on the likes of Devin Haney, Gervonta Davis and Teofimo Lopez.
De La Hoya will reveal all in the coming days following a meeting with boxing's hottest prospect.
"We have something special in line for Ryan. I'll sit down with him next week. And we'll present him with a plan that will lead to world title status.
"That will lead to stardom. So we're excited about Ryan. He's the real deal," De La Hoya said.
As far as the next opponent, De La Hoya says his boxer is in a very strange position - because all of the world champions at 135-pounds are currently calling him out.
"Ryan is in a unique position, all of the world champions are calling him out instead of him calling out all of the world champions.
"So, it's a unique position. We just have to be very smart in how we plan his career," De La Hoya added.
