  • Manny Pacquiao’S Advisor ‘Waits On’ Eddie Hearn To Seal ‘Biggest Fight Of Year’ Vs Conor Benn

Manny Pacquiao’s advisor ‘waits on’ Eddie Hearn to seal ‘biggest fight of year’ vs Conor Benn

Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao’s advisor has revealed that he is “waiting on” Eddie Hearn to complete the final details ahead of a proposed fight with Conor Benn.

The Brit has been vindicated after the World Boxing Council (WBC) deemed that a "highly elevated consumption of eggs" was the most likely explanation for his two failed drug tests last year.

Benn is not happy with this reasoning, but he has subsequently been reinstated into the WBC rankings. He cannot fight in the United Kingdom as he does not hold a license with the British Boxing Board of Control.

But he can box elsewhere and the idea of him facing Pacquiao has been floated around in recent weeks.

Sean Gibbons (Pacquiao's advisor) has added fuel to these rumblings. On Thursday, he tweeted out an unofficial Pacquiao-Benn poster with a "back to business" tagline. He later added.

"Waiting on Eddie Hearn! Senator ready to Rumble."

Benn responded: "Biggest fight of the year! Let's go."

'The Destroyer' was due to fight Chris Eubank Jr in October 2022 but it was postponed. This means his last outing was his second-round stoppage win over Chris van Heerden in April 2022.

Pacquiao (44) meanwhile retired after his unanimous decision loss against Yordenis Ugas in August 2021.
Hearn recently hinted that Benn's next fight could take place in June.
"Behind the scenes, talking from a boxing perspective, we will now make a decision where we will apply for a license for Conor Benn to fight," Hearn said on The DAZN Boxing Show.
"It could be Nevada, it could be New York, it could be Britain, it could be an international license.
"Ultimately, we want to get him back in the ring, probably in June."
Hearn has also stated that he would prefer Benn to box through the BBBofC.
"That process, we'd much rather go through that process with the British Boxing Board of Control," Hearn said.
"However right now that's the last thing that Conor Benn wants to do because he's fuming. It (apply for BBBofC license) means he can box straightaway in the UK. If not, his next fight will be internationally. And that's something we'll have to decide in the coming days."
"One thing is for show, he wants the biggest fights out there. Like it or love it, everyone in the world is going to watch Conor Benn's next fight."
