Watch: Josh Warrington wows social media fans with guitar skills

Warrington

Josh Warrington is the latest boxing figure to give the world a chuckle in testing times.

Key names from the sport are currently egging each other on to sing their favourite song in a bid to put smiles on faces of the public following the coronavirus epidemic.

During his American Pie duet alongside Matchroom Boxing CEO Frank Smith in his Brentford office, Eddie Hearn nominated the ‘Leeds Warrior’ to showcase his vocals.

The promoter tweeted: “Ok Tony Bellew a royal stitch up but here you go #CheerUpChallenge with a stunning cameo from Frank Smith - I nominate Tom Davis, Josh Warrington and Kugan Cassius enjoy.”

Like David Brent in desperate times of need, Warrington got the guitar out and wowed his 93k followers alongside father and trainer Sean O’Hagan.

Carl Frampton is one of three names the IBF champion nominated, who recently confirmed he will take on Jamel Herring despite fears over the coronavirus cancelling the summer event.

Speaking about the chance to become Ireland’s first three-division champion, the Jackal said: “This is huge. To be the challenger fighting for a world title at home is just great.
"When it was first talked about and hinted at after I'd beaten Tyler McCreary in my last fight, I didn’t imagine it’d be in Belfast!
“I’m delighted to be fighting in my city and hopefully once the coronavirus madness has all passed, we can get it sealed and have the fight.
“It’s good to have a small bit of good news with this fight being agreed but there are more important things than boxing. People’s health is more important than me and Herring having a fight so it's important we do this right.”
Frampton won his first world title at super-bantamweight and unified the division against England’s Scott Quigg at the Manchester Arena in 2013.
He then moved up to featherweight and overcame Leo Santa Cruz in an epic showdown in Las Vegas to win the WBA title. After his first defeat to the Mexican, wins against Nonito Donaire and Luke Jackson followed before being outpointed by Warrington.
The 33-year-old returned to winning ways in November last year with victory over Tyler McCreary.
