Josh Taylor and Ben Davison win Fighter and Trainer of the Year awards

Ben Davison and Josh Taylor

The pair created history together when Josh Taylor outpointed Jose Ramirez to become undisputed champion at junior welterweight.

Josh Taylor and Ben Davison were named Fighter and Trainer of the Year for 2021 at the British Boxing Board of Control awards.
Taylor created history last year in Las Vegas by defeating Jose Ramirez to become Scotland's first undisputed champion since Ken Buchanan in 1971.

Davison was in his corner and witnessed Taylor floor Ramirez twice on his way to a unanimous decision win.

The "Tartan Tornado" won his first world title in 2019 with victory over Ivan Baranchyk before going on to edge out Regis Prograis in the World Boxing Super Series final.

Taylor most recently outpointed Jack Catterall in his first defence as undisputed junior welterweight champion.

The Scot has since hinted that he will either move up to fight at welterweight or give Catterall a rematch although if it is to come into fruition then it will have to be at catchweight as he is no longer able to cut weight and make the 140lb limit.
Davison won Trainer of the Year in 2021 for his work with Taylor, Leigh Wood, Lee McGregor and Devin Haney.

Wood earned a famous win over the much-fancied Xu Can at Fight Camp in August 2021. After dominating proceedings throughout, Wood landed a brutal KO in the final round to win the WBA featherweight title.

He is set to make the first defence of his title against Michael Conlan this weekend in his hometown of Nottingham at the Motorpoint Arena.

Davison was also part of Haney's team during his successful world title defences over Venezuelan legend Jorge Linares and JoJo Diaz.

The lightweight, undefeated from 27 bouts, has now made four successful defences of his WBC lightweight championship and is plotting a unification battle against George Kambosos Jr later this year.
McGregor meanwhile won two fights inside the distance, and claimed the European bantamweight belt in the process.
