Jake Paul responds to Ryan Garcia’s claim he’s ‘disrespecting boxing’ after first round knockout win
Jake Paul improved his professional boxing record to 9-1 following a first round knockout victory over Ryan Bourland on Saturday night.
The YouTuber faced backlash over his choice of opponent as the unknown Bourland became the latest victim on Paul’s CV.
Paul was quick to turn on the style and dispatched his opponent with 30 seconds remaining of the opening round.
Soon after the fight, Ryan Garcia took to social media to challenge Paul to a fight.
Posting on X, the 25-year-old said: "I can’t do this s**t. I feel so f*****g bad for introducing Jake Paul to boxing. I f****d up. I can’t allow this to happen. He’s disrespecting my sport, he’s disrespecting everything.
“Call my team, Jake. F**k you. I’m going to end this Jake Paul boxing thing. Bring it on Jake, I'm dead f*****g serious f**k you, hit my team up."
Paul hit back at Garcia during his post-fight press conference. The Problem Child told the media: "Ryan, I love you and you know that but you’ve got to chill out bro. There’s a line but you just seem like you’re losing your mind and acting thirsty and desperate.
"You're saying you're a billionaire, but you've had one money fight. Just chill bro, but if you do want to fight that’s light work. You’ve got no footwork and for as long as you’ve been in the game I’m a better boxer than you.”
The difference in weight between Paul and Garcia is almost 30kg. What’s more, King Ryan has an upcoming fight on the agenda as he prepares to take on former undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney in April.
