Jake Paul vs Ben Askren: Horror show continues after Paul knocks out MMA star

Let's just hope the paycheck was worth it for ex-UFC and MMA welterweight champion Ben Askren, who tasted an embarrassing defeat to the YouTuber.

Jake Paul declared himself 'a real fighter' after knocking out an out-of-shape Ben Askren inside two minutes.
The YouTuber - who walked into the ring with a robot - saw his scheduled eight-round fight halted inside the opening round after referee Brian Stutts halted proceedings.
While the stoppage may have been premature, it did very little to prevent the egotistical Paul from asking fans who he should 'retire next'.
Paul claimed his third win inside the ring, following on from victories over fellow YouTube star Ali Eson Gib and ex-NBA player Nate Robinson.
"I told y'all I'm a real fighter," Paul said."It's been four months. I've been in training camp every day.
"This is the craziest moment of my life.
"I told y'all I was going to do it in the first round. I told y'all I'm a real fighter. I don't know how many times I've got to prove myself - this is for real."

While Justin Beiber, Snoop Dog, Black Keys, Ice Cube and comedian Pete Davison were the marquee names providing entertainment, it was an intoxicated looking Oscar De La Hoya who stole the show by claiming Mike Tyson 'inspired me' to make a comeback.

Triller, which also had the exclusive rights of Tyson's comeback fight against Roy Jones Jr., will continue their involvement in the sport when Teofimo Lopez defends his lightweight titles against game Australian George Kambosos Jr. on June 5.
While the event was a freak show, nobody can question the spectacle provided by Triller. It did, however, very little to promote the sport's integrity.
If there are any complaints to be made, then it should be at boxing for allowing it to happen in the first place. Poor judging decisions and the best refusing to fight the best have contributed to the sport being in the position it is in right now.

Prograis questions referee decision

Elsewhere, former world champion Regis Prograis played second-fiddle to Paul on the undercard against Ivan Redkach.

Prograis defeated the southpaw in the sixth round by technical decision after a questionable low blow ended proceedings. It saw Redkach leave the arena on a stretcher. 

The scorecards were 59-55, 60-54, and 60-54 in favour of Prograis.
"I feel like they took the knockout away from me. I definitely wanted the knockout and it's fucked up bro.
I'm not a dirty fighter, never been a dirty fighter no matterif I fight an orthodox or a southpaw fighter.
"You've taken away my glory, that's f***** up,"Prograis fumed.
Steve Cunningham also had his hand raised after earning a decision over former UFC heavyweight champion Steve Mir.
The American, who credits himself for helping Tyson Fury become world champion, won with scorecards of 58-56, 60-54, and 60-54.
