Eddie Hearn confirms Manny Pacquiao ‘wants’ Conor Benn fight amid Kell Brook Twitter spat

Eddie Hearn

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Manny Pacquiao “wants the fight” against Conor Benn.

British welterweight Benn is set to return to the ring this summer.

He has nearly been out of action for a whole year as last October's bout with Chris Eubank Jr was cancelled following two positive drug tests.

Benn has been trying to clear his name in recent months and he has now been reinstated into the WBC rankings.
But amid his ongoing conflict with the British Boxing Board of Control, his next fight is unlikely to take place in the United Kingdom.

A bout against 44-year-old Pacquiao has been mentioned in recent weeks and this could be in the United States or the Middle East.

Hearn thinks Pacquiao vs Benn is an "expensive and great fight".

"He wants the fight. Manny Pacquiao wants the fight," Hearn said on the DAZN Boxing Show.

"It's an expensive fight and it's a great fight. We're in talks with a number of countries to stage that fight at the moment. Conor wants that but Conor wants Eubank, that's personal now."
Pacquiao vs Benn may happen next, but the Brit is also looking to face Kell Brook.
The British rivals have been butting heads over social media of late over one of their previous sparring sessions.
Benn started by claiming that Brook initially "chose retirement" instead of facing him.
"Last time we tried to make the fight he chose retirement instead," Benn said on social media.
"Must have been that sparring session…"
Brook was quick to clap back, saying: "Who are you kidding your the one who cut the sparring short, don't flatter yourself p****."
Benn replied: "Stop talking s***. You know the footage begs to differ!"
