COVID knocks out Conor Benn's Fight Camp clash with Granados
Leigh Wood now set to headline Fight Camp 1 after 24-year-old Benn tests positive for coronavirus.
Conor Benn's WBA continental welterweight title defence with against Adrian Granados has been postponed after the British boxer tested positive for COVID-19.
The 24-year-old Briton was scheduled to face the Mexican on Saturday in Essex but that will no longer go ahead.
"Slightly disappointing news is that Conor Benn has failed a COVID test this morning. We are conducting further PCR tests but he will be off the card on Saturday night," said promoter Eddie Hearn.
"Conor Benn is in good spirits. He feels well. Of course, he'll obey the isolation rules and reset and reschedule his fight.
"We'll make further announcements on that very soon."
Benn last fought in April when he beat Samuel Vargas with an 80-second knockout.
The world title fight between featherweights Xu Can and Leigh Wood will now headline Fight Camp 1.
However, the fight of the night looks to be Tommy McCarthy's domestic dust-up with Chris Billam-Smith which sees the British, Commonwealth and European cruiserweight titles on the line.
