Anthony Joshua nails his colours to the mast over Will Smith vs Chris Rock clash

Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua has made it clear which side he came down on after Will Smith’s assault on Chris Rock at the Oscars on Sunday night.

Smith shocked the world by slapping comedian Rock in the face, it's already been dubbed 'the slap heard around the world'.
The 57-year-old had made a joke about Smith's wife Jada Pinkett, whilst hosting the awards ceremony.
Pinkett, who suffers with alopecia, was sitting next to Smith when Rock decided to aim a joke at her hair condition.
"Jada, can't wait for GI Jane 2," said Rock, who was referencing the Demi Moor film in which she features with a shaved head.
Immediately Smith walked up to the stage and slapped Rock, who never moved, in the face.
"Will Smith just smacked the s*** out of me," said Rock.

"Take my wife's name out of your fu**ing mouth," shouted Smith.

"Wow dude, it was a GI Jane joke," replied Rock.

"Keep my wife's name out of your fu**ing mouth," said Smith again.

Rock replied: "I'm going to, OK."
Many people have suggested the fracas was staged, but Rock looked unnerved by the incident.
Rock has refused to press charges, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
"LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program," an LAPD statement read.
"The incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report."

AJ's advice

Smith later apologised to the Oscars film academy while accepting his award for best actor, achieved for his performance as Serena Williams' father Richard Williams in the movie King Richard.
"I want to apologise to the Academy, I want to apologise to all my fellow nominees," said Smith. "Love will make you do crazy things."

Meanwhile, Joshua was clearly in Smith's camp and revealed his respect for Smith and jokingly gave him some words of advice.

Two-time heavyweight world champion Joshua shared a picture of Smith and himself from the 2012 London Olympics and wrote: "Proud of you bro."
"Next time close your first."

Joshua also shared a video of the incident on Instagram with 'Eye of the Tiger' playing over it.

Jake Paul puts up $30m

Never one to turn down an opportunity, Jake Paul quickly waded into the feud and offered $30 for the pair to settle their beef in the ring.

Writing on Twitter, he said: "I got $15m for Will Smith and $15m for Chris Rock ready to go. Let's do it in August on my undercard."

He added: "Someone get me on the phone with Will Smiths boxing representative asap."
But any prospect of the pair fighting it out seems to have already disappeared.

According to Diddy, the two have already buried the hatchet.
Speaking at the Vanity Fair after-party, the rapper told pagesix: "That's not a problem. That's over. I can confirm that.

"It's all love. They're brothers."
